Poppy is a playwright and librettist for musical theatre and opera. Their debut play Wondr premiered at the Edinburgh Festival 2017. They was shortlisted for the inaugural Bolton Octogain Prize for her play You Lay Your Hand Backwards on My Heart.
Musicals include In The Willows (Exeter Northcott Theatre and UK tour) which won the WGGB Best Musical Theatre Bookwriting Award 2020, and Little Mermaid (Theatre Royal Keswick and UK tour). Other musicals in development include a circus musical of The Little Prince, a new musical based on Great Expectations, and The Rhythmics with Composer Ben Glasstone – a new musical about an all-male Rhythmic Gymnastics group.
Previous adaptations include a street dance and circus Jungle Book (Theatre Royal
Windsor and UK tour) Alice after Lewis Carroll (UK tour), Monkey & Crocodile based on the Indian fable (Site specific UK tour), Sexing The Cherry based on the original novel by Jeanette Winterson (Southbank Centre), Luigi Pirandello’s The Man With the Flower in His Mouth (Greenwich Theatre/site-specific & Oxford Playhouse/site-specific UK tour), Federico Garcia Lorca’s Blood Wedding, (Southwark Playhouse) and the puppet show Le Livre Blanc (Riverside Studios) based on the Jean Cocteau novella of the same title.
