Poppy is also a playwright and librettist. Her debut play Wondr premieres at the Edinburgh Festival 2017. She was shortlisted for the inaugural Bolton Octogain Prize for her play You Lay Your Hand Backwards on My Heart.
Her first musical Little Mermaid for actor-musicians and circus artists will premiere in 2018 at Oxford Playhouse. She is also developing a hip hop version of Wind in The Willows whigh will premiere in spring 2019 at Exeter Northcott Theatre. She is also creating a new English language version of Mozart’s The Magic Flute set in a Victorian Circus.
Previous adaptations include a street dance and circus Jungle Book (Theatre Royal Windsor and UK tour) Alice after Lewis Carroll (UK tour), Monkey & Crocodile based on the Indian fable (Site specific UK tour), Sexing The Cherry based on the original novel by Jeanette Winterson (Southbank Centre), Luigi Pirandello’s The Man With the Flower in His Mouth (Greenwich Theatre/site-specific & Oxford Playhouse/site-specific UK tour), Federico Garcia Lorca’s Blood Wedding, (Southwark Playhouse) and the puppet show Le Livre Blanc (Riverside Studios) based on the Jean Cocteau novella of the same title.
